2026 Greater-Seattle Area Rebates
Many Washington cities in the areas surrounding Seattle also offer rebate programs to help homeowners upgrade their heating and cooling systems to more energy efficient options. Two of the biggest programs we recommend homeowners consider are the Energy Smart Eastside (ESE) program and the Energize Shoreline program.
Energy Smart Eastside is a regional program funded by the cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, and Sammamish to help homeowners install high-efficiency heat pumps and reduce energy use and emissions. Energize Shoreline is a similar program specific to residents of Shoreline. Unlike standard utility rebates, these incentives are city-backed rebates designed to support electrification in specific communities.

What Rebates Are Available?
Energy Smart Eastside and Energize Shoreline both offer two levels of incentives for qualifying heat pump installations:
-
A standard heat pump rebate
-
A bonus rebate for income-eligible households

Eastside Heat Pump Rebates
Energy Smart Eastside offers two heat pump rebate programs. Which one applies to you depends primarily on what type of heating system you’re replacing and your household income.
How much is the rebate?
-
$1,000 rebate for qualifying ducted or ductless heat pump systems.
-
$5,000 bonus rebate for income-eligible households.
Do I qualify?
At a high level, you may qualify if:
-
You own an existing home within Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, or Sammamish.
-
The home is an existing single-family residence or manufactured home.
-
You are replacing a fossil fuel heating system (oil or gas), or an electric resistance heating system.
-
The system is installed by an approved in-network contractor (like Hansen Home Services).
The $5,000 bonus rebate is available for households earning below 150% of King County Area Median Income. Fill out the form located here to see if you qualify.
How do I apply?
The standard $1000 rebate is applied directly by your contractor after installation, as a discount. The bonus $5000 rebate requires you to submit an application on the form located here to confirm your income eligibility. Approval is typically provided within one business day. Once approved, the Eastside Energy Program will generate a unique code for you to give to a participating in-network contractor, which they will use to secure your rebate.
Hansen Home Services can help you determine which ESE heat pump rebate applies to your home as part of a complimentary quote, and ensure your installation meets all eligibility requirements. To get a head start, fill out this 4 question eligibility form to see which rebates you qualify for, and we'll contact you to discuss next steps.
